What the blue shield means

A verified seller has completed an ID and liveness check: a government-issued document (passport, driver's licence, or national ID) matched against a live selfie. It means the account is tied to a real, checked identity — which matters if a deal ever goes to a dispute, because verified sellers are accountable people, not throwaway profiles.

How verification works

1. The seller starts verification from their seller workspace.
2. They're taken to Didit, our identity verification partner, in a secure hosted session.
3. Didit captures the ID document and a liveness selfie, and checks that they match and that the document is genuine.
4. buyphonesja receives only the outcome — approved or not — and the blue shield is granted on an exact approval.

Where your documents go

• buyphonesja never sees or stores your ID documents. Document capture and biometric checks happen entirely inside Didit's secure environment.
• buyphonesja stores only the verification outcome and a reference to the session — enough to show the shield and to stand behind it.
• Marketplace uploads (listing photos, evidence screenshots) must never contain identity documents; our image checks reject IDs on sight.
• Handling of personal data follows our privacy policy and the Jamaica Data Protection Act, 2020.

Is verification required?

Verification is optional but strongly recommended for sellers — verified sellers get the shield on every listing and convert more buyers. Certain activity thresholds or trust signals may require verification before continued selling.
